The fields of Holland are known for their spring bulbs. However, many perennials are grown in Holland, too. Just ask Jack de Vroomen, of de Vroomen Holland Bulb Products. This year, he is proud to release some glorious new peonies. He calls them "future heirloom plants" because they retain the best qualities of the older varieties, especially the wonderful scent. In addition, they have modern improvements, such as better flower quality, stem strength and durability.

Many, many peony varieties were hybridized and evaluated over the past decade on the 48-acre de Vroomen farm in Lisse, Holland. From such a fragrant and beautiful bounty, only the top ones were put into production. Dutch Gardens is proud to offer the Buckeye Belle Peony, which comes from the de Vroomen family farm.

Like many growers, de Vroomen has a stunning display garden at Keukenhof in Holland.
"It took many years to build up stock," Jack admits. But the results of his company's research, patience and high standards are ready at last.
